Theater - Essay Example Furthermore, the scene where the little girl of Lear, Cordelia passes on is despite everything engraved in my brain (National Theater Live, n.d.). At the point when the film with a similar screenplay on cinema is being contrasted and that of the play on theater one could truly find that, it didn't request the brains as the live play did. As a matter of fact, the most significant elements of a live performance center is the overall part of the theater. It is through this relative angle that crowds can watch the on-screen characters cry, snicker, run before their eyes however doesn't move the crowds into an idealistic land. Despite what might be expected, the crowds can frame a solid talk, which relates the consciousness of the crowds observing live entertainers performing in front of an audience with the offhand presentation of the on-screen characters of the live theater (Live Theater, 2014). Eminently, there is an enormous extension to show and build up a striking display and visual scene in front of an audience through music, light, solid, showmanship and in particular, through the live presentation of the entertainers. The experience of a live performance center is constantly breathtaking (Reason, 2004). Correspondingly, as I unequivocally accept with my experience, a significant feature is its relative viewpoint, which could be accomplished in live venues through the energy of the performing

Harpers Ferry

Harpers Ferry Harpers Ferry, town (1990 pop. 308), Jefferson co., easternmost W Va., at the confluence of the Shenandoah and Potomac rivers; inc. 1763. The town is a tourist attraction, known for its history and its scenic beauty. John Brown 's seizure of the U.S. arsenal there on Oct. 16, 1859, and the town's subsequent strategic importance during the Civil War, when it was considered the key to the Shenandoah valley , brought it into national prominence. In 1747, Robert Harper, a millwright, established a ferry at the junction of the two riversâ€"hence the town's name. The U.S. arsenal was located there in 1796, and by the mid-19th cent., Harpers Ferry was an important arms-producing center, with mills, numerous gun factories, and huge stores of weapons and ammunition. The development of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and of the Baltimore Ohio RR increased its importance, making it a transportation link between the Ohio valley and the East. During the Civil War it was primarily held by Union soldiers but changed hands a number of times. Its industrial plant was repeatedly destroyed by troops of both sides. Harpers Ferry never recovered economically, and a series of devastating floods in the late 19th cent. ended all hopes for revival. Despite continued flooding during the 20th cent., many old buildings remain. Of interest are the fire engine house in which John Brown was captured; the John Brown Museum; and the old steps, hand-carved (early 1800s) into the natural stone, which lead to Robert Harper's house (1775â€"82) and to Jefferson Rock. The Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (est. 1963; 2,343 acres/949 hectares) attracts many visitors (see National Parks and Monuments , table). The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia, 6th ed. Code of Ethics Design and Implementation Essay - 2960 Words

Introduction Business ethics has become increasingly important in recent years. American’s idea of business had become more negative due to the scandals in the early nineteen nineties. Due to the increasing public outcry, it is more important than ever to have an enforced code of ethics or CofE. Currently, the organization I work for, PBC, does not have a code of ethics. There are many important ideas that need to be implemented in a CofE for my organization to ensure ethical behavior by every employee. I will be developing an ethics plan to be adopted by my organization, and will provide evidence as to why that is in my code of ethics. I also oversee everything that has to do with my property’s operation. The four of us also have a common goal of increasing the value of my owner’s asset, or the community we work on. We also have more informal groups, which are defined as two or more individuals with a common interest but without an explicit structure (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2011). Unfortunately, like every other community I have worked at there are two informal groups. These groups consist of the office workers and the maintenance workers. Sometimes it is more of and us against them mentality, and we may not always see eye-to-eye. Even in the decentralized organization I work for, there are both formal and informal groups. From what I can see in my three weeks with the company, I have noticed there is a integrative culture within the organization. An integrative culture combines both high concern for people as well as high concern for performance (Ferrell, Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2011). Another manager in Texas with the organization let me know that I will be spoiled working with this company and I will not be able to work for any other organization. This illustrates to me that the owners have a high concern for their employees. Research Paper on Type 2 Diabetes - 2171 Words

Chapter One: Literature Review 1.1 Introduction The worldwide prevalence of type 2 diabetes is skyrocketing alarmingly to epidemic proportions. According to King, Aubert and Herman (1998), in the year 2000 there were 150 million people with type 2 diabetes worldwide, and this number is expected to double by 2025. This explosive increase in type 2 diabetes prevalence is also associated with a significant increase in morbidity and mortality. (Dankner, Abdul-Ghani, Gerber, Chetit, Wainstein and Raz, 2007). This global increase in diabetes will occur because of population ageing and growth, and because of increasing trends towards obesity, unhealthy diets and sedentary lifestyles. Worldwide, according to the WHO Diabetes Action Now†¦show more content†¦Results also showed that eating patterns were influenced by participants’ knowledge of diabetes management. Participants stated that they needed to receive more detailed, individualised training to resolve the challenges faced in the daily management of diabetes. As befo re, these results show that specific interventions aimed at improving patients’ ability to modify their diet need to address this area. An Irish quantitative study conducted by Clarke (2009) which explored the behaviours of people newly diagnosed with diabetes. The convenience sample (n=168), who were recruited at group education clinics, took part in a correlational, longitudinal study. Dietary behaviour was measured using a modified Dobson’s 17-item Short Fat Questionnaire. 50% of participants reported non-adherence to recommended dietary fat intake. Study findings indicate that healthcare providers need to assess the perceptions of newly-diagnosed diabetics and subsequently provide tailored education programmes. This supports the findings of Savoca and Miller (2001), Nagelkerk et al (2006) and Williamson et al (2000) who agree that the current group education delivery may not meet the needs of the person with diabetes. Music Concert Report (Park Concert) Essay Example

Music Concert Report (Park Concert) Paper As the era progresses decades later, Classical music Aries in many forms, tempos, textures, melodies, timbres, harmonies, and us e of instruments. A more modern, progressed piece compared to Henry Parcels is Peter Tchaikovsky Swan Lake ACT 1 Waltz. Many things were going on in most progressed classical pieces, such as this o Usually, pieces like this are in the form of polyphony, because theres so many melodies going on at once, with multiple instruments playing together. In this piece, the insert aments being played are: flute, oboe, cello, violin, clarinet, piccolo, many horns, and triangle. The pieces hem of the piece is giving a magical feeling while listening to it. Id usually hear pieces like these in most Disney princess movies. The setting of the piece was set either for the era that had ballroom dances (l could just picture people in formal wear, dressing fancy, h Loading hands and circling around a ballroom while the song is playing. ) At the very beginning of the piece, the song starts with the main chorus, in polyphony, with three distinct melodies t hat are combined with multiple instruments:the string, horns, and flute. In most classical pieces like this one, the tiring usually lead in the piece, with accompaniment of strings in minor, and pipe instruments as bass chord and second harmony. Throughout the piece, and especially in t he main chorus, there are many variations, such as how some parts fades in and out, soft and loud, from little to many instruments added to the melody. The purpose of changing the volume and timbre of the melody, is for the composer to emphasize some parts of the piece, as it show s unpredictability and uniqueness of the piece. Usually, the pattern of classical music is a Ternary y form, but with his piece and many others including Beethoven and Mozart, it is in a Rondo f Oromo, to keep the element of surprise and unpredictability of the piece. The Radio station that I listened to was CDC. During commercial breaks (there only enjoy commercials within two hours), the commercials playing were about getting tickets for concerts at the SF Symphony. It is Obvious that the commercials in that radio station target the CDC radio listeners who live in San Francisco, because the genre of the radio is lackadaisical. I notice how ALL pop songs must have electronic beats, and sometimes, even alternative and country music too, to make the song more danceable and fun to hear. M odder music usually includes a singer with instruments and/ or electronic beats playing. Unlike Classical music, the song is concentrated on the lyrics of the song, and secondary for the instrument natal. There are less musical instruments used in Modern Music, compared to Classical, to make pi aces more simple, and easier to listen to the main melody. Therefore, they are in the texture 01 homophony. Because Im focused mainly on the lyrics, sometimes its hard notice many ins treatment changes. Modern music usually has a Ternary form (ABA), with repeating chord us (B) and verses (A), so people could get familiar with the song more quickly. Sometimes, to BRB edge between a verse and chorus, there is often a short instrumental and/ or vocal solo (C). For Modern music hat have lyrics, the singer uses emotion and vocal technique to portray the lay RISC, and telling the storyline of the song. Unlike classical, where the composer only depends on t he instrumental to express and give picture of the storyline. Perhaps the reason behind using less s instruments in Modern Music, especially in lyrical songs, is to give more focus onto the singe and the lyrics. Most modern lyrical music have relatable storyline to love, happiness, sadness as, and encouraging the partying scene. (Such as breaking up, being in love, loneliness, having fun at parties, dancing, etc. The form of modern lyrical music is often melodramatic, saying MO re than one word in one beat.

Top 5 Hottest Jobs With The Most Potential for 2017

Top 5 Hottest Jobs With The Most Potential for 2017 As the New Year approaches, maybe it’s also time for a new you? Or maybe just a new work you? If you’re looking for a career change, one of these five buzzy jobs could be the one for you. 1. Survey ResearchDid you know that 4 out of 5 survey researchers recommend this career path? If you think you could be the next Nate Silver, then helping companies surf the numbers to find patterns and predict trends might be the right path for you. This is a pretty highly skilled area (you’d likely need a master’s degree and a background in statistics, sociology, and business), but it’s lucrative (it has a $45,050 median salary for 2017) and expected to grow 18 percent by 2022, per the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Survey says†¦look into it!2. Software App DeveloperOkay, so for every developer who sells an app for $15 million and retires to a condo in Silicon Valley, there are hundreds of developers who have more of an everyday software career. But if you go in this direction, it could be you who comes up with the next Candy Crush. This is definitely a wave-of-the-future career, with more hands needed on deck all the time to create, develop, and maintain software applications. With a Bachelor’s degree and some hands-on coding and programming experience, app developers can make a median salary of $90,000. That’s a lot of Candy Crush boosters, no? Plus, the field is growing like gangbusters: in fewer than 10 years, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects 23 percent growth.3. Travel AgentFull disclosure: I wasn’t even aware until recently that travel agents are still a thing. How is this possible, when we do everything over the internet now? Fact is, travel agents have not only adapted to the growing tech and self-service parts of travel, they have positioned themselves as travel ambassadors. You might not walk into a storefront full of fake palm trees anymore and have someone phone the airline to book your ticke t, but a travel agent (often someone who works from home on a freelance basis) can help you navigate for a better deal and manage booking arrangements on your behalf. Travel agents today have an average salary of $56,000- not to mention a suite of sweet travel perks.4. Physician AssistantJobs in the medical sector are always a great bet- as immortal as we may think we are, we all need healthcare at some point. Physicians’ assistants are especially in demand right now, as they’re increasingly used to fill gaps caused by doctor and nurse shortages. These jobs typically require a two-year training program and a certification, and have a median salary of $74,980. The field is expected to grow a whopping 27 percent in 2017.5. Veterinary TechniciansJust before Black Friday, I got an email from a major pet store chain (which shall remain nameless) telling me to shop now for gifts to â€Å"surprise your pet for the holidays.† Pretty much everything surprises my dog, so I can’t say I spent much at that store. However, it showed me how the pet industry has become Serious Business. Someone who tries hard to surprise his cat with the perfect holiday gift is likely also someone who takes good care of said cat, and wants quality veterinary care.If you like animals (even the less cuddly ones) and are willing to take a 1-2 year training program, you could be the one providing that care. The median salary for vet techs is $27,750, but what it lacks in gold watches, it more than makes up for in puppy cuddles. Or snake cuddles. Whatever floats your boat. Either way, it’s a solid career path with lots of growth potential (41% projected by 2022).Whether you jump right into a new career or take a few classes to get started, 2017 could be a major turning point for your professional life. Think outside the resume, and you might find the exact right opportunity for yourself.

The Export-Led Growth Model Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1750 words

The Export-Led Growth Model - Essay Example China’s model is rooted in the double transition of demographic and structural transformation. China economy has tremendously managed the double-digit growth rates from the period when it began economic transformation. This enabled the country to move from a planned to a mixed economy where the market plays the significant roles in resource allocation. Thus, despite the political, social and economic problems associated with the rapid growth in China economies, export-led growth has tremendously enabled China to increase their profitability levels, balance their finances, exceed their debts and trigger their export growth rate.Export-led growth model have been successful in many economies that employ this model for creating economic transformation. China has benefited from the export-led model since they started using it because this model has enabled them to increase their profitability levels. China was ranked the second largest economies that have emerged and improved in terms of economic performance in the global market. This model has not only enabled them to increase their profitability level but also to balance their finances; thus enabling China to emerge as the successful economies in Asian markets. It has also triggered export growth rate in the China market; thus creating higher export levels.... Absolute Essay -- essays research papers

An elephant was brought to a group of blind men who had never encountered such an animal before. One felt a leg and reported that an elephant is a great living pillar. Another felt the trunk and reported that an elephant is a great snake. Another felt a tusk and reported that an elephant is like a sharp ploughshare. And so on. And then they all quarreled together, each claiming that his own account was the truth and therefore all the others false (traditional parable). None of the accounts that the blind men made about the nature of the elephant are absolute truths, nor are the accounts false. An absolute truth, or one that is true for all, can not be achieved because of the constant motion of circumstances of who said it, to whom, when, where, why, and how it was said. Instead of absolute truths, the concepts or beliefs that the blind men claim are viewpoints that each one clarifies the nature of the elephant. Everybody has learned to see things from his or her own sense of reason and logic. The many things that people experience throughout their lifetimes, help to determine the judgments toward the different issues and objects that they encounter. Because individuals has his or her own sense of reason and logic, the perceptions that people encounter are ultimately true, and not false. Life does not contain one truth for any idea or object, but truths can be found in one’s perception. It is difficult to determine that anything is the absolute truth. One should not prove tha...

Hansson Private Label

Vent Consulting Expansion and Risk at Hansson Private Label, Inc. Evaluating Investment in the Goliath Facility HBS#4021 Vent Consulting takes pleasure in presenting our Hanson Private Label’s (HPL) capital expansion executive summary. We carefully reviewed all applicable case materials and believe we have quantified your primary risks, benefits, and most attractive course of action. 1) HPL has performed exceptionally well since inception in 1992. Financial statements show that operating revenues have increased from $503. 4M in 2003 to $680. 7M in 2007.During this time, gross operating profit increased by $24. 3M. This illustrates that the company is not sacrificing profits for top level growth. Capital replenishment matches or exceeds depreciation. Net income increased during the same time span by $9. 6M. The revenue gross margin has averaged 7. 8% growth and the gross margins have averaged 18. 6% over the last five years, while net income has averaged 5. 3%. Dividends have b een paid to stockholders. Cash flow from operations has increased steadily. The cash from investing has fluctuated from a low of $5. M in 2006 to a high of $7. 8M in 2003, indicating an overall conservative strategy of controlled expansion. HPL used more cash in financing in 2006 and 2007 than in previous years, which may contribute to future growth. To reinforce the company’s financial performance: †¢Total assets have grown over the years to a high of $380. 8M in 2007 †¢Long-term debt is at a five year low at $54. 8M †¢Net working capital is at a five year high of $102. 5M All four plants under HPL are operating at 90% capacity and a focus on conservative efficiency has led to strong financial performance.Comparatively speaking, HPL’s 9. 26% EBITDA ratio is stronger than industry competition, another indicator of strong earnings and management. 2) Vent Consulting’s analytical summary is provided in Appendix 1. Note the calculated NPV of $4,971 an d IRR of 11. 1% at tab NPV-BASLINE. Given an accepted discount rate of 9. 38%, both the positive NPV and the positive 1. 7% IRR spread on this investing type project initially indicate a rewarding proposal. Additionally, the calculated profitability index of 1. 11 suggests the project should be pursued.Note that the discounted payback period is just under 7 years, 4 years beyond the contractual commitment under consideration with HPL’s largest retail customer. 3) Sensitivity analysis reveals interesting factors, however. Note in the additional tabs: †¢Ramping up capacity utilization to 85% in 3 years instead of the projected 5 years yields a full 2% IRR increase. †¢If aggressive marketing can capture secondary demand from competitors and increase capacity utilization from 85% to 95% in years 4 through 10, IRR is increased to 14. 8%. †¢The project is very sensitive to unit selling price. If expected annual growth in sales price rises from 2% to just 3. 5%, IRR ri ses a full 6. 7% to 17. 8%. †¢The project is also very sensitive to commodity costs. A small . 5% increase in expected inflation from 1. 0% to 1. 5% annual raw material costs reduce baseline IRR calculations to 9. 5%, making the project unattractive compared to the 9. 38% discount rate. †¢Improved capital planning yields expected improved project returns. The last tab illustrates a potential improvement of 2. 5% IRR. Given this information, Vent Consulting has identified 3 courses of action (COA): 1) Accept the capital expansion proposal as written by Mr.Gates 2) Accept the retailer ‘s 3–year contract, but reduce capital risk by reducing the scale of expansion, improving the use of working capital and sub-contracting production shortfalls to other producers. 3) Maintain status quo and reject the retailer contract Despite the positive NPV, Vent Consulting recommends rejection of COA 1 due to the following uncontained risk factors: †¢Required capital expans ion and associated financing does not match the proposed customer contract, adding uncontrolled capacity utilization risk. This risk is compounded by a lack of customer diversification. †¢Difficult-to-predict sales price and raw material cost variables also add significant uncovered risk. Vent Consulting also recommends rejection of COA 3. This course of action would propagate HPL’s growing â€Å"cash cow† business model, and sacrifice an ideal opportunity to improve company performance and steal market share in cooperation with one of the largest industry retailers. We strongly recommend COA 2, which apitalizes on market opportunity while minimizing the significant risk of the original proposal. Specifically: †¢Reduce capital expansion to 40% of proposed project. †¢Improve capital management †¢Dedicate primary capacity to key/primary retail customer(s) †¢Sub-contract production shortfalls to other producers for lessor retailers/customers Vent C onsulting is eager to provide additional recommendations on how this is would be best accomplished — for a fee — once we’ve completed another few Themes.
